John was a Private in the Rev. War, serving under Captain Eliezer Prentice and Col. McClellan. He enlisted in 1776 in Connecticut Militia as a Private serving Captains Nathan Hine's Company, 13th regiment. He was corporal in Captain Jonathan Calkin's company, Colonel Latimer's regiment, 1777, for services at Saratoga.
