The Prentice Newsletter

The Prentice Newsletter is on hiatus until further notice. We want to thank Joe Dewald, editor of the Prentice Newsletter, for the many years of service to the Prentice genealogy community! Joe started the Prentice Newsletter in 1997 and continued for more than 20 years. For more information about Joe, see About our Editor.  Thanks, Joe!

We recently learned that Linus Joseph "Joe" Dewald Jr. passed away on September 29, 2022. Joe was 90 years old. Our condolences go out to his family. Joe was a major contributor to PrenticeNet for over 20 years, and he will be missed. If you are his family or know of family members, please have them get in touch with me.

If you are interested in the Prentice, Prentis or Prentiss surname, you will find helpful information here. Joe gathered information on more than 35,000 Prentices and their spouses, ranging from the 1300s to the present time, and he hopes you can use this resource to help trace your family roots.

Much of this information came from correspondents and is reasonably accurate. However, its accuracy rests on many factors, including legibility of handwriting and memory. Please tell us about any errors, omissions or new information. If you have additions or corrections to the newsletter articles, please contact us.
