Gretje (Gretchen) Herminia Geiken
#15, Gretje (Gretchen) Herminia Geiken is the daughter of Harm Gaiken and Thalke Aggen Haaren.
12 Feb 1848 at Munkeboe, Ostfriesland. Died 24 May 1910 at Peoria, IL. Gretje was the fourth of six known children of Harm Geiken and Thalke Herren. She was 19 when she came to America (Peoria, IL) in 1867. She married two years later at the age of 21.
Her oldest child, probably Dena, was born about 1870, and probably in Peoria. Gretje had 6 more children over the next 14 years. Her youngest child, John, was born in Peoria in 1884.
Gretje's 1910 obituary relates that she died at the home of her daughter at 409 Stanley St. in Peoria at the age of 62 and her funeral was "Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock from home; 2 o'clock from German Lutheran church, corner of First and Goodwin. Interment at Springdale cemetery."
She married Harm Hllrichs "Herman" Folkerts.
