1. Thomas Prentice was b. c. 1725-35. He m. Janet Girdwood. They had 1 or more children, including:

  • David Prentice, b. 13 Feb 1754, Carnwath. . . . . . . [2]

2. David Prentice was b. 13 Feb 1754, Carnwath. He m. Agnes Somerville. Known children:

  1. Thomas Prentice, chr. 13 Oct 1782, Carnwath.
  2. Margaret Prentice, chr. 27 Jun 1784, Carnwath.
  3. Janet Prentice, chr. 3 Jul 1786, Carnwath, d. 25 May 1861, age 74, and bur. in the Covington Churchyard. She m. James Brownlee on 6 Mar 1812 at Covington and Thankerton. He was b. c. 1784, d. 22 Nov 1816, age 32, and bur. same place. For her roots, see our Fall 2001 article about David Prentice of Carnwath .Children (per Christine Hadden, email, 7 Sep 2003, citing headstone):
    1. William Brownlee, b. c. 1814 and d. 14 Jan 1881, age 67. Bur. same place. He m. Grace Dickson, b. c. 1812 and d. 13 Apr 1888, age 76. Bur. same place.
      1. Margaret Brownlee, b. c. 1842 and d. 11 Dec 1926, age 84. Bur. same place.
      2. William Brownlee, b. c. 1845 and d. 5 Jan 1846. Bur same place.
      3. Grace Brownlee, b. c. 1856 and d. 18 May 1931. Bur. same place.
  4. John Prentice, chr. 26 Aug 1788, Carnwath. Perhaps deceased by 1793 when another son was named John.
  5. Jean Prentice, chr. 14 Mar 1790, Carnwath.
  6. John Prentice, chr. 6 Jan 1793, Carnwath. He may be the John Prentice who m. Mary Sword c. 1815 and perhaps at Carnwath (per IGI). Children:
    1. Margaret Prentice, b. 14 Dec 1816, Carnwath.
