Private Graveside Memorial Services honoring her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Dodge Grove Cemetery with Reverend Robert Miller of Paris, IL officiating. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Merle was born on October 4, 1920 in Windsor the daughter of Major Vail and Mary Agnes (Davis) Hampton. She married Harold E. Turner on March 3, 1938. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1987. She later married Harry M. â€"Bud†Prentice. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her three daughters, Madeline Mitchell of Gays, IL, Maxine Callahan of Paris, IL and Sierra Sue Volkenand of Xenia, OH; two sons, Harold Edmond â€"Bo†Turner Jr. and James â€"Bob†Robert Turner both of Charleston, IL; sister, Diane Abbot of Mattoon, IL; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Merle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Turner; husband Bud Prentice; son, Norman Lee; and two siblings.
Mrs. Prentice was a homemaker and a former member of the Central Community Church in Mattoon.
Memorial donations in her honor may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
