Patricia Anne Prentice, age 70, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Hackley Hospital. She was born in Durham, North Carolina on November 18, 1942, to Edwin and Lillian (Hamann) Prentice. She grew up in Muskegon, graduated from Muskegon High School and received her teaching degree from Western Michigan University in 1964. Pat taught English in Berrien Springs, Kinde North Huron and Orchard View school districts until her retirement. She later worked for Muskegon Area Rental Association, writing and editing their newsletter. She was also the director of Scrabble Players Club 178 in Grand Haven for a number of years. Pat is survived by two brothers, Ed Prentice, and Paul (Kris) Prentice; two sisters, Mary (Tom) Berwald, and Jean (Dave) Keim; sister-in-law, Linda Prentice; devoted caregiver, Deb Denio; and her beloved cat, Sox, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her mother, Lillian; her father, Edwin; and her brother, Gerald Prentice. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Central Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Harbor Hospice.
