Robert Prentice Obituary

Mr. Robert W. Prentice, age 81 of Macclenny, Florida and formerly of Bristol, Maine, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Mr. Prentice was born to the late Keith and Cordelia McClain Prentice. He was a retired master carpenter who had a heart for people. He loved to talk and visit with friends and family. Mr. Prentice enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, fishing and shrimping, and going hunting. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of twenty seven years: Gloria Hanning Prentice of Macclenny; daughters: Elizabeth (Richard Gibson) Matteson and Jennifer (Dewey) Rayburn all of Macclenny; step-daughters: Rena Burton of Macclenny and Stacey Jackson of Bristol, ME; step-son: Arthur Smith of Bristol, ME; grandson who Mr. Prentice raised as a son: Andrew Smith of Marietta, Florida; brothers: Keith (Joan) Prentice of Columbus, GA, Carl (Carol) Prentice of S. Bristol, ME, Richard (Irma) Prentice of Damariscotta, ME, and James (Carolfaye) Prentice of Round Pond, ME; sisters: Nancy Thorpe of Port Charlotte, FL, Donna Chase of Gaithersburg, MD, Mildred (Charlie) Higgins, of Bristol, ME, Rosalie (Alvin) Hill of Damariscotta, ME, and Rosemarie (Larry Dodge) Clancy of Walpole, ME; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny, Florida. 904-259-4600.
