WILDER - Virginia Marion Dewar Major, 82, died Dec. 5, 2007, at Mount Ascutney Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Northfield, the daughter of Harry and Mildred (Prentice) Dewar. She graduated from Burlington High School and then worked at Veterans Administration Loan Guaranty Division in Burlington. On Sept. 20, 1953, she was married to Warren C. Major in Salem, N.H. Mrs. Major worked at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction as a medical secretary for more than 20 years before retiring. Survivors include three daughters, Carol Malone of Killington, Joanne Follensbee of Hartland and Valerie Major of Quechee; four grandsons; an aunt; a half-brother, Gary Blass of Loveland, Colo.; and a nephew. She was predeceased by her husband in 1994; a brother, Harold Dewar; and a nephew. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, where the funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery in Northfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Skilled Nursing Facility at Mount Ascutney Hospital, 289 County Road, Windsor, VT 05089.
