Carolyn George Prentice Higby, a native of Leakesville, MS and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the age of 88.
She was formerly employed by Smith's Bakery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tyra John Prentice and Opal Inez McInnis Prentice; and her husband of 69 years, John Donald Higby, Sr. Her survivors include two children, John Donald (Kay) Higby, Jr. and Marlene Higby (Henri Michael) Rathle; her grandchildren, John Donald Higby, III, Leigh Higby, Alexandra (Ben) Stroecker, Grainger Rathle and Michael Rathle; two great-grandchildren, Lachlan and Addy Stroecker; her sister, Evon Prentice McGowan (James) Carpenter; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 2, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in Mobile Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Friday from 10:00 AM until service time. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Mobile Infirmary for their care and kindness during a difficult time, also to the staff and residents at Knollwood Pointe Assisted Living. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Mrs. Higby's name be made to or organization. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
