ILLIOPOLIS -- James "Jim" L. Prentice, 70, of Illiopolis, died at 11:06 a.m. Wednesday (April 11, 2018) at his home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1947, in Charleston to Joseph and Martha Prentice.
Survivors include one daughter, Cathy Prentice (Geff Gibson) of Riverton; three grandchildren, Christopher, Samantha and Joeseph Downs; one brother, Gary Prentice; one sister-in-law, Jean Prentice; four nieces, Ellen, Michelle, Melissa and Allison; dear friends, Matt and Christina Ward, and their two daughters, Alex and Samantha, Rhonda and Dave Purcell and Chase Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Christine Prentice; and one brother, Randy Prentice.
Jim was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Lake Fork Sportsman Club, was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting. He worked for Specialty Paint in Decatur.
A memorial gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Staab Funeral Home, Springfield.
