(contributed by Scott Prentice on 2016-09-28)
Mary Prentice (Bocca) passed away peacefully on July 5, 2016 in Citrus Heights, at the age of 77. She was born November 11, 1938 in San Jose, CA. She was a resident of Orangevale and the Sacramento region for many years. She was the mother of Robert Erickson who precedes her in death and the grandmother of Robert (Jr) and Richard Erickson both of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by one great-grandchild, Aubree. She was the sister of Angela Prasil of Bellevue, WA who precedes her in death and Josephine Baroni of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by her many adoring nieces and nephews and their families. Mary was born into an Italian immigrant family that settled in the Santa Clara Valley during the early 20th century. Mary graduated from San Jose Lincoln High School in 1957. She raised her son Robert Erickson while working in the Title/Escrow business. She was an avid Bay Area sports fan and would never miss a Giants or A's baseball game nor a Niners or Raiders football telecast. The ravages of Alzheimers disease gradually began to take its toll on Mary, but with the help of her strong faith in God, she was determined to fight it as best she could. With the support of her dear family and friends, she continued to enjoy life by bowling, shopping, spending time with friends, and even taking ballroom dancing lessons up to the very end. She was a member of Divine Savior Catholic Church where she absolutely adored her Pastor Fr. Roman Mueller. A funeral Mass of celebration will be held at Divine Savior Catholic Church in Orangevale, CA on Saturday, July 16 at 10:30am with a Rosary one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, Mary requested that donations be made to the SPCA or Divine Savior Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, (725-2109). Please refer to www.pricefuneralchapel.com for a more detailed tribute to our beloved Mary.
