Gerald R. Prentice

On April 22, 1957 he married Shirley Sullivan at St. Mary’s Church, in Potsdam, NY. She predeceased him on December 23, 2004.
Mr. Prentice is survived by his 3 children, Michael of Bali, Indonesia, Karen (Gerald) of Potsdam, NY and Gerald (Teena) of Massena, NY; his 5 grandchildren, Bradley Wilson of Rochester, NY, Jerika Burkum, Gregory Burkum of Potsdam, NY, Jacob Losey of Maryland, and Tara Prentice of Massena, NY; his 3 brothers, James (Jessica) of Florida, John (Darlene), of Bridport, VT, and Pete, of Norfolk, NY and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion, June Wood.
He is predeceased by his wife, parents, his sister, Eileen Charlebois Baxter, and nephew, Richard Charlebois.
Mr. Prentice worked for many years as an iron worker, and worked on all the missile sights throughout the North Country in New York and Vermont. He was not afraid of working and would travel all over the state to work. He went to work at Alcoa and retired from there in 2000. He had a love for hunting and shared many a story about his years spent at Hill 19 with father, brothers, son, grandson, nephews, and many friends. He spent his later years enjoying his hunting camp with his children and grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam, NY with Msgr. Robert Aucoin celebrant. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Home on Monday, April 21st from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Reachout of St. Lawrence County, P.O.
