Katherine Gianino Prentice

Prentice, Katherine Gianino Mar 8, 1922 - Jul 24, 2017

Died at home in Phoenix AZ. She was born to Joseph and Emma Gianino, on a ranch in southeastern Montana. Her younger brother, Battista; and her parents preceded her in death. Her niece, Wende Gianino of Boyes survives her, living on the original homestead. After college in Nebraska she moved to Helena, MT and was employed by the late Sen. Mansfield, then as Administrative Secretary for the Vice President of the Great Northern Railway in Helena.

In 1947 she met Gale G. Prentice, marrying on September 2nd. Moving to California she was employed by the Office of Special Investigation of the USAF while Gale pursued graduate school. In California she gave birth to the first of 4 wonderful children, George. She moved to Wyoming joyfully partnering with Gale in Presbyterian Mission and of raising 3 more children, Gianene, Carol, and David. She and Gale moved to Omaha NE where she was employed by Family and Children's Service for 20 years. Lover of all God's creatures, gardening, photography, ceramics, water color painting, dancing, and cooking. Anyone was welcome at her table and no one a stranger.

She was a Deacon and Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church. She will be missed by her husband, Gale; her children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; friends. "When a rock drops off a cliff into the ocean, the continent is less". So it is with us. We will miss her and always love her as she has loved us with such grace and abundance.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on August 19 at 11am at Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1500 West Maryland Ave. Phoenix, AZ. Any contributions to her memory can be made to Presbyterian Church of the Master in Omaha, NE or Shepherd of the Valley Evangelical Lutheran Church in Phoenix, AZ. A. L.
