Frances Marie (McClure) Prentice

Frances M. Prentice 91, died Thursday, November 20, 2014 at The Gardens of Clyde. Mrs. Prentice was born on June 9, 1923 in Pacolet, SC, to the now deceased William and Pearl (Johnson) McClure. She graduated from Clyde High School in 1941. On March 11, 1944 she married John Henry Hopper in El Paso, Texas. Mr Hopper was killed on December 31, 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge. On September 4, 1945 she married Harold Walter Prentice, he preceded her in death on April 12, 1983.
Frances was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and a member of the American Legion and Moose Auxiliary. She enjoyed her garden and crocheting.
Survivors include a son, Carl (Kimberly)Prentice of Clyde: a daughter, Trudi Prentice of Burgoon: four grandchildren, Clint Ledman, Heather (Jamie) Gilchrist, Heidi Prentice, and Zachary Prentice: four great grandchildren: and her son-in-law, Guy Ledman. In addition to her parents and two husbands Frances was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ledman on August 3, 2005: two brothers, Willis McClure and Lewis McClure and two sisters, Lurie Mae Koke and Nellie Louise Glaser-Hall.
Visitation was held Sunday November 23, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main Street in Clyde. Graveside services were held November 24, 2014, at 10:30 a.m, at McPherson Cemetery in Clyde.
