Jacob Hermannsen Caspers
#24, Jacob Hermannsen Casper was born 3 Jan 1777 in Ochtelbur, Ostfriesland. The identity of his parents has not yet been determined. He died 3 Jun 1839 in Ochtelbur.
A letter of 19 November 1989 from Erhard Schulte of Ostfriesland, provides the following information about Jacob:
"Sometimes he is called Jacob Jacobs Hermannssen, too. (Note: he is so-identified in Die Familien der Kirchengemeinde, Ochtelbur, #574) His profession was a carpenter (in German: Zimmermann) at Riepe, a little village between Emden and Aurich. He was born about 1777 and died at the age of 62. He was buried 8 Jun 1839 at Ochtelbur, where he lived with his second wife, Antje Garrelts, whom he married at Ochtelbur 16 May 1819 (not 1818). She was born about 1797, for she was 22 years old at the marriage."
Jacob's first wife is not presently identified. Jacob would have been 42 at the time of his second marriage to Antje Garrelts, and there is a possibility that there are one or more children, presently unidentified, by that earlier marriage.
Nothing is presently known about his parents.
He might be related to Weert (Harms) Herrmanssen of Simonswolde who is only other person showing in Ochtelbur bearing the surname "Herrmanssen." Weert would have been born about 1737 as he married Eintje (Antje) Harms who was born in 1737 and died on 1 Apr 1814 in Ochtelbur at the age of 77. However, that does not seem likely as Weerts was born 40 years before Jacob; surnaming patterns before 1800 would indicate that Jacob's father's first name was "Herman" or "Harmon".
He married Antje Garrelts.
