Antje Garrelts
#25 Antje Garrelts is the daughter of Garrelt Jurgen Daniels and Antje (Eggen) Janssen.
Antje was the oldest of the 6 known children of Garrelt and Antje: Antje Moetje, Trientje, Janna, Daantje and Daniel.
Married in 1819 at the age of 22, her husband passed away in 1842 when she was 45 leaving her a widow with four children, 3 of whom were 21 or older, but the youngest of whom, Johann, was only 12 (a fifth child, a daughter, died shortly after birth in 1827).
Antje did not remarry.
She immigrated to America in 1854, arriving 15 April 1854 at the age of 57 with her 3 children who were still living, Anna (age 35), Garrelt (age 33) and Johanna (age 24). They arrived at Peoria, IL on 9 July 1854.
It might be assumed that Antje Garrelt(s) thereafter made her home with her son Garrelt since Antje died in Woodford Co., IL. Garrelt moved to Benson, Woodford Co. in 1858. The other two children with whom Antje immigrated, Anna and Johann, both died in Peoria.
It may also be assumed that she died some time before 1877 when Garrelt and his family moved to Ash Grove Twp. in Iroquois Co., IL.
She married Jacob Hermannsen Caspers in 1818 in Ochtelbur, Ostfriesland.
