We were recently provided with a portrait of what is obviously a young English gentleman dressed in a style of clothing appropriate to the 1600s. After consulting with a renowned authority who wishes to remain anonymous, he expressed the view that the clothing was consistent with the mode of dress of many of the well-to-do persons who immigrated from England in 1631 aboard the "Lyon."
Upon close analysis, it struck us that the gentlemen was of an age consistent with our Valentine Prentice who immigrated in 1631 aboard the "Lyon" at the age of 32 and died two years later.
A coincidence? If so, it is a remarkable one.
If you can provide any information about the identity of the person in the portrait, or would like additional information, please contact us at the Prentice Newsletter.
