Update of 27 Mar 2007: Ebenezer T. Prentice is Solomon Prentice and Edna Sweet, discussed in our Spring 2006 article entitled Solomon Prentice of Nelson, Portage Co., OH .
1. Ebenezer Prentice is #7ix in our John-3 eBook. He was b. 22 Feb 1770, in Preston, N.L., CT.
There is no marriage or death record for Ebenezer at Preston, CT. He probably accompanied his parents to Shaftsbury, VT in the latter part of the 1770s. The mention in C. J. F. Binney's 1883 PRENTICE book of his death in 1784 at the age of 14 was an error; the death referred to his mother's brother, after whom he was named, who died at the age of 14.
An Ebenezer T. Prentice appears in the 1840 Census at Perrysburg, Cattaraugus, NY is probably not be the same person because he has young children; Ebenezer would have been 70 at that time and unlikely to have had young children at that age. Whether that Ebenezer is a son of the 1770 Ebenezer Prentice remains under investigation.
