1. William Prentis was b. c. 1811 in Essex, England. He appears in the 1861 census in Black Notley, Essex. Black Notley lies approximately 15 miles NE of Chelmsford, and just south of Braintree. (see map). He was living in Tillingham, Essex, in 1861 when his daughter, Hannah, was born.
Her m. Hannah, b. c. 1801, Braintree, Essex. They had 1 or more children, including:Children of that William and Hannah are:
- Hannah Prentice, b. c. 1845, Tillingham, Essex. At home in Black Notley in 1861 census.
William and Hannah do not appear in the earler1841 or 1851 census records with the same 1811 birth year for Hannah. However, and although Hannah's birth year is different, they may be the same persons who appear in the 1851 census in Tillingham, Essex, where persons of the same name lived (see Prentices of Tillingham, Essex.)
