1. Charles Prentice was likely b. c. 1855 at an unknown location, d. Jul 1945, age 90, and was bur. with his wife on 13 Jul 1945. In the 1922 C’wealth Electoral Roll, the family is living at Frederick St Taringa, Brisbane.

He m. Annie Prior in 1880, Murrurundi, NSW, Australia (per NSW MBD) who was b. c. 1855, an d. 14 Oct 1927 (Ref: 1927/B002682) age 72, in Queensland. She was bur. at Toowong Cemetery on 15 Oct 1927. She was the dau. of Owen Prior and Annie Joyce.Children (per NSW MBD and Judith Dickson, email, 11 Sep 2006):

  1. Herbert James Prentice, b. 12 Oct 1886, Glen Innes, New South Wales, Australia (Ref: 20869/1886). No marriages shown in NSW BMD. enlists for WW2 on 11 Aug 1942 in the Australian Army. No rank or posting is shown. At the time of enlistment he is living at Taringa, Brisbane. His next of kin is given as Sarah Farley. She may be the Sarah Prentice, a music teacher living with the family in 1922.

  2. Ruby A. Prentice, b. 1888, Glen Innes, NSW (Ref:21889/1888). She is also shown as staff nurse on the WW1 Embarkation Roll (with her mother Annie Prentice at Taringa given as next of kin) joining 7 Nov 1917. At that time she was a nurse living at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane (probably living in at a hospital). Her religion is given as Roman Catholic. She embarked on the 16 Sep 1917 on the SS Canberra from Sydney. She m. Ross C. McCay/MacCay in 1920, St. Leonards, NSW (per NSW MBD).

  3. Florence K. Prentice, b. 1890, Glen Innes, NSW (Ref: 13842/18900. A Florence Kathleen Prentice m. Thomas Cornelius Henry on 26 Aug 1914 (Ref: 1914/B015481) in Queensland.

  4. Edgar Owen Prentice, b. Glen Innes, NSW on 26 Jan 1895 (Ref: 3404/1895). In his enlistment form for WW1 dated 26 Sep 1916 he was given as unmarried and gave his mother Annie Prentice’s address as Stanley Terrace, Taringa. In civilian life his calling was given as a Telegraphist. On the 1922 C’wealth Electoral Roll he is living with his mother and siblings at Frederick St. Taringa and is listed as a Public Servant. On the WW2 Nominal Roll when he enlisted on the 22 May 1940 in the Australian Army, he is living at Taringa and his next of kin is given as Kathleen Prentice. This may be his wife (or sister). He was a Major and his posting on discharge on 13 Aug 1946 was HQ NORTHERN COMD.
