We are helping Heather (Prentice) Sullivan in tracing her Prentice roots. Here is what we have so far:
1. William Prentice was b. c. 1820-1830. We do not have a birthplace, but it might have been in Ireland where his son, Campbell Prentice, was born. He was a Hand Loom Weaver.
William married Mary Jane Campbell. They had at least one child, a son:
- Campbell Prentice, b. c. 1856, Ireland. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
2. Campbell Prentice, b. c. 1856, Ireland. He does not appear in the 1861 or 1871 Scotland census which suggests his parents moved to Scotland from Ireland after the 1871 census.
Campbell appears in the 1881 Rutherglen census with his wife and family; he was then a Coal Miner living at 258 King Street. He appears in the 1891 census in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, with his wife and family. He was then a Coal Miner living at 192 Mill Street.
He m. Mary Montgomery on 14 Feb 1881 in the Congragational Church at Rutherglen which lies just south of central Glasgow. They all lived at 258 King St., Rutherglen. She was b. c. 1862. Children:
- Mary Prentice, b. c. 1883. At home in 1891 in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire.
- Elizabeth Prentice, b. c. 1885. At home in 1891 in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire.
