Update of 10 May 2005: Although additional research is needed for confirmation, it appears probable that William Prentice is a son of Asher Prentice. b. c. 1802, MA, who appears in the 1850 census in Scott, Wayne Co., PA, with a wife, Mary, b. c. 1802, MA, and a son named William, b. c. 1829, NY. County boundaries probably changed after 1850, and the only town of Scott is now located a few miles SW of Pittsburg, Alleghanny County. Asher Prentice is a descendant of Thomas Prentice.
