Update of 24 Apr 2004: William Prentice is a descendant of Henry Prentice and is #157 in our Henry Prentice eBook.
1. William H. Prentice was b. c. 1811 in VT. and married Eliza A. Chase on 7 Jan 1841 in Grafton, Worcester Co., MA according to the IGI. They first appear in the 1860 Grafton census where William's occupation is given as "Shoe Manf." They later appear in the 1880 and 1900 Grafton census showing that Eliza was b. May 1822, VT. Known children:
- Julia H. Prentice, b. Apr 1836, MA. She is living at home in Grafton in the 1860 census.
- William H. Prentice, was b. Nov 1849 in MA. He appears in the 1900
Grafton, Worcester, MA census with his wife, Lillian E., b. Feb 1860, MA,
and their children:
- William P. Prentice, b. Jul 1880, MA.
- Ethel A. Prentice, b. Jan 1882, MA.
- Arthur J. Prentice, b. Jul 1885, MA. He appears in the 1920 Boston, Suffolk Co., MA census with his wife, Elizabeth, b. c. 1888 in New Brunswick.
- Clarence H. Prentice, b. May 1886, MA.
William H. Prentice also appears in the 1920 Worcester Co., MA census. His wife is identified as Alice E., b. c. 1860, MA.
The best clue we have so far is that his mother, Eliza A., b. c. 1773, New Hampshire, was living with William and his family in the 1860 census in Grafton. We also know he had an unmarried sister, Sally Prentice living with them in the 1880 census in Grafton.
