1. Thomas Prentice was b. c. 1770-1785 at an unknown location.
He m. Elizabeth c. 1800-1804. Their children included (per IGI):

He m. Jane. In 1842 they lived on Edward Street, Bermondsey, Surrey, and
his occupation was Collector. Not in 1851 and later census. Children:
- Charles Alfred Prentice, b. 1842, St. Georges the Martyr, Bermondsey, Surrey. He was bap. 6 Mar 1842 at St. Georges the Martyr, Bermondsey, Surrey. He does not appear in the 1881 census.

2. (perhaps) Stephen Prentice, b. c. 1805. We do not know the date of his death, but the 1851 Whitechapel census shows his family without him..We do not know for certain the identity of his parents, nor his place of birth. However, the Saint John Horseleydown christening of his children suggests he may be a son of Thomas and Elizabeth.
Stephen m. Elizabeth Roskilly on 26 Dec 1829, St. Mary, Newington, Surrey, 7 Marshall St., both then resident in 1839 at 25 Nelson Street, Leather Market, St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey. She was b.1808 in either Davenport, Devon (per Dan Spott, email, 25 Oct 2004) or in Plymouth (per 1851 Whitechapel census). Children:
- Arthur Richard Prentice, b. 17 Oct 1830 and chr. 11 Sep 1831, Saint John Horseleydowns
Bermondsey. He does not appear at home in the 1851 Whitechapel census when he would be about 20 years of age. He does appear in the 1851 census in St. Clement Danes, Middlesex,
as a Warehouseman with his wife, Mary A. Morris, b. c. 1830, Lambeth. Living with them
are her brothers, William, John and Samuel. Also living with them was Arthur's mother-in-law,
Elizabeth Morris, b. c. 1803,Lambeth, Surrey. Morris.
They do not appear in the 1861 and later census records in England, nor do they appear in USA census They had either died or, more likely, emigrated to Australia, New Zealand, or Canada as did many of their countrymen in that period.
By email of 26 Apr 2006, Dorothy Morris indicates that Mary A. Morris is a sister to her great-grandfather, John Samuel Morris Sr.
- Anthony Prentice, b. 3 Feb 1833 and chr. 3 Mar 1833, Saint John Horseleydowns. May have died young as he does not appear at home in the 1841, 1851 and 1861 and later census.
- Stephen Prentice, chr. 31 May 1835, Saint John Horseleydowns. He does not appear at home in the 1851 Whitechapel census when he would be about 16 years of age and may by then be deceased as another Stephen Prentice, b. c. 1846, Ditton/Detton Rd., Surrey, appears in the household.
- Elizabeth Prentice, b. 23 Feb 1839 and bap.5 Jun 1839, Parliament Court, Old Artillery Ground, Irvingite, Stephney
- Mary Ann Prentice, b. Jan 1843. According to DSPott's email memo of 7 Jul 2002, immigrated to USA in 1865 at 35 years of age. She appears in the 1900 NY census, Enumeration District 356, Line 39. 323 5th, Kings, Brooklyn. NY. She was then working at a Stationary Store, unmarried, and lived in a rented house.
- Stephen Prentice, b. c. 1846, Ditton/Detton Rd., Surrey. Not in 1851 and later census.
- Louisa Jane Prentice Born July 28, 1849, Southwark, Surrey Died Jan 07, 1938, Hoxton, Middlesex. Bur. Biscot Churchyard, Luton.
3. Arthur Prentice, chr. 17 Apr 1808, Saint John Horseleydowns, Bermondsey, London, and d. 1886, St. Olave district.
He m. Sarah Bull Jun 1838. She was b. 1809 in Southwold,Suffolk and d. 1893, St. Olave, Bermondsey, Southwark, London. They appear in the 1841 census in St. Gregory by St. Paul, Middlesex. In 1849 they lived at 23 Minto St., Leather Market, Bermondsey. He appears in the 1881 census living at 33 Reverdy Road, Bermondsey, Surrey. His occupation was Brushmaker. Children:
- Sarah Hannah Prentice, b. 1845 at 1845, Minto Street, Bermondsey, Surrey. She was bap. 14 Dec 1845 at St. Georges the Martyr, Bermondsey. In the 1871 census she was an unmarried Servant living with the Desborough family at 86 Blackfriars Rd., Southwark.
- Ellen Sarah Prentice, b. c. Jun 1841 and bap. 23 May 1841, St Andrew by the
Wardrobe, London. In the 1881 census she was living at 33 Reverdy Road,
Bermondsey, Surrey. Her occupation was given as Ladies underclothing
manufacturing. She latter appears in the 1901 Camberwell census, living
alone, unmarried, and a Blouse Maker. Daughter (per Kerry Prentice, email,
21 May 2003):
- Ellen E. Prentice, b. 1882, Deptford, kent (illegitimate). in 1881 census she lived at 33 Reverdy Rd., Bermondsey, Surrey.

Camberwell, Surrey census he is living at 16 Langdale with his wife,
Jane Ellen Saunders who he m. in Jun 1874, Camberwell. She was
b. c. 1853, Camberwell, Surrey, London and d. after 1901. Children.
- Arthur G. Prentice, b. c. 1876, Bermondsey. In the 1901 census he was a "Warehouseman Rubber" in Bermondsey.
- Walter R. Prentice, b. c. 1878, Camberwell. At home in 1901 census and a "Warehouseman Rubber".
- Alfred I. Prentice, h. c. 1881, Camberwell. He appears in the 1901 census as a "Carman At Factory", London, Lambeth, with his sisters, Harriet, Esther and Alice.
- Harriet Prentice, b. c. 1886, Lambeth.
- Alice Prentice, b. 1886, Camberwell and shown in 1901 census.
- Ethel Prentice, b. 1889, Camberwell. It is unclear whether she is the same person as the Esther Prentice, b. c. 1888, shown living with her brother, Alfred, in the 1901 census.
- Alice Prentice, b. c. 1890, London, Newington
- Emily Prentice, b. 1895, Camberwell. Shown in 1901 census.
- Thomas Prentice, b. 1850, Holloway, London, per 1891 census.or Bethnal Green, London, per 1901
census. Thomas and his wife and family appear in the 1891 census in Limehouse, London.
He appears in the 1901 Bethnal Green census as a Bricklayer with his wife and family. He does not
appear in the IGI. He m. Emily, b. 1856, Holloway, London. He does not appear in the IGI.

- Henry Edward Prentice, b. Sep 1853, Bermondsey. He m. Mary Jeanie McElroy on 18 Aug 1897, Manhattan, New York. She was born Tyrons Ditches, Armagh, Ireland, dau. of Robert McElroy and Margaret Russell Tuft. Not in 1900 and later US census.
4. William Prentice, chr. 23 Jan 1814 Saint John Horseleydowns, Bermondsey, London, England, and d. 2 Dec 1885, 24 Cornwall Cottages, Islington, Middlesex. See Fn. 1 He d. after 1881, 2 Ridley Road, Hackney.
He married Jane Kerridge on 29 May 1838 in St James, Clerkenwell, Middlesex. She was b. bef. 12 May 1822, St. Paul,Deptford, London (possible) and was the daughter of James Kerridge. At the time of his marriage in 1838, William lived at 5 Wood Street, Clerkenwell, Middlesex and his occupation was Brushmaker and/or Carman. Jane's address at marriage in 1838 was 11 Wood Street, Clerkenwell; apparently she was a neighbor to William.
Kerry Prentice's email of 23 Feb 2003 says she has William's Death Certificate and that he d. 2 Dec 1885 at 24 Cornwall Cottages, age 71, Journeyman Brushmaker, of "Senile Decay, Bronchitis." Present at is death was Ellen Sarah Prentice, niece, (#3ii, above) 51 Gainsford Street, Horseleydown. Son:
- William James Prentice, b. 24 Jan 1842, 6 Kirby St., Bermondsey, Surrey and d. bef. 1901 (per Kerry Prentice, email, 21 May 2003). He was a Lighterman and in 1881 lived at 31 Princes St., Rotherhithe, Bermondsey, Surrey.
5. (probably) James Prentice was b. c. 1848 in Southwark, Surrey, England. He appears in the 1881 Bermondsey, Surrey, census as a fishmonger with his wife and family.
He m. Fanny, b. c. 1851, Maldon, Bedford, England. In 1881 they were living at 118 Grange Rd, Bermondsey. In the 1891 census they were living in Rotherhithe, All Saints, at 370 Southwark Pk. Road. Children:

6. James Prentice was b. c. 1871, Bermondsey, Surrey.
He m., as her 2nd husband, Rose (Charles) Faver. She was formerly m. to James William Faver, son of Mary Faver. At the time of her 2nd marriage to James Prentice, Rose had 2 daughters by her former marriage (per Glenys Newport, email, 17 Nov 2002):
- Alice Ada Faver, b. 1901, Camberwell, Surrey, England. She m. a Mr. Prentice in Lambeth in 1924.
- Lilian "Lily" Faver, b, c. 1902 and d. c. 1918 in the flu epidemic.
Footnote 1: By email of 19 Jan 2002, Kerry Prentice advises that "William above who married Jane Kerridge [may be wrong]. On the marriage cert for these two, Williams father is given also as a William Prentice (carman) NOT as Thomas Prentice, as the information above should suggest. However if William who married Jane is correct , then we have the information regarding Thomas as father being incorrect.
I Believe that William and Jane are the correct line (although this is only through the process of elimination!) and that either Thomas is wrong or the name Thomas was used as an alias (though that would be all too easy). Additionally, Kerry Prentice's email of 23 Feb 2003 relates that William, who m. Jane Kerridge, is called "a carman" at the time of his marriage. A brother and his father appear all to be brushmakers, additional investigation is needed.
