With the help of Elizabeth Larrabee of Guelph, Ontario, Binney's 1883 PRENTICE book (#119,168), and Barbara Stephenson's census records, we have constructed the following family tree:
1. Nathaniel F. Prentice , the son of Solomon and Elizabeth Prentice, was b. 11 Oct 1825 in NY. Nathaniel is #119/168 in our PRENTICE book. He is shown as unmarried, age 26, in the 1850 Rockton census. His profession was that of a physician. He is shown in the 1860 Freeport, Stephenson, IL census with his wife, Miranda Charlotte Hyatt who he m. on 20 Nov 1851, Winnebago, IL (Illinois Marriage Index 1763-1900, Vol.1). Miranda was one of 3 children born to Jacob HYATT and Pamelia Agusta HOOKER See Fn. 1. Known children:
- Elizabeth Printice, b. c. 1854, IL
- Charles S. Prentice, b. c. 1862, IL. He may be the Charles S. Prentice,
b. Jan 1862, IL, who appears in the 1900 Albert Lea,
Freeborn Co., MN census and 1920 St. Paul, Ramsey Co., MN census with
his wife, Clara Susan Shaffer, b. 18 Nov 1861, IL. She was the daughter of
Charles M. Shaffer (b. 24 Jun 1817, Northampton Co., PA)
and Amelia Montelius. Children (per 1900 census):
- Nathan F. Prentice, b. Mar 1885, IL.
- Robert S. Prentice, b. Aug 1887, MN
- Elizabeth Prentice, b. c. 1855, IL. She m. Francis A. Read,
b. c. 1853, IL., Elizabeth's husband. Daughter:
- Elizabeth Read, b. c. 1779, IL, Elizabeth's daughter.
Nathaniel does not appear in the 1880 census with his family and he may be deceased by 1880.
Fn. 1: Miranda was one of 3 children born to Jacob HYATT and Pamelia Agusta HOOKER who was bur. 25 May 1899 age 88 in Greenwood Cemetery, Rockford, IL.
Miranda's sister, Mary Louise Hyatt, was married to Bryon Graham in 1863 at Freeport, IL at Miranda's home. Mary Louise Hyatt died 19 Mar 1910 in Rockford, survived by husband Byron Graham, and by sons Harry Hyatt Graham and Robert Byron Graham (per Elizabeth Larrabee, email, 9 Jun 2002).

Other HYATT members also went to Winnebago Co., including Jacob's brother HORACE. Jacob & Horace were sons of ISAAC HYATT and Cynthia HITCHCOCK. Cynthia's parents were Luke Hitchcock and Jerusha Prentiss (Prentice) - per Carol Strank's ref: The Genealogy of the Hitchcock Family, Mrs. Edward Hitchcock Sr. 1894.
