George Augustus Prentiss, Cambridge, MA

George Augustus Prentiss, Cambridge, Middlesex, MA
By Linus Joseph Dewald Jr., Editor
Spring 1999 and Revised 23 Sep 2008

Binney's 1883 PRENTICE book shows that Benjamin and Ruth Prentice (63/65) had a son, George Prentice (63/65iv) born 1 Jan 1774 at Watertown, MA and that George died 18 Mar 1849, age 74. That information was apparently based on a Bible record, but there is no mention whether George married and had a family.

George would be within an appropriate age range (he would have been 36) to be the George Prentis who married Hannah Smith on 23 Sep 1810 at Cambridge, MA according to the Marriage Index.

The MA IGI shows a George Augustus Prentice who was chr. 17 Nov 1811 at Cambridge, Middlesex, MA, Son of George and Hannah Prentice. One could infer that George and Hannah are the persons mentioned above who married 1810 at Cambridge.

The 1811 George may be the same person shown by Tree Maker's Genealogy Site as George A. Prentiss who married Dorcas B. Southwick on 9 Feb 1839 at Cambridge, Middlesex, MA.
