We are helping Robert Lincoln in tracing his Prentice roots. Here is what we have so far:
1. Fanny Prentice may have been b. c. 1780-1790 and perhaps in, or near, Cambridge or Watertown, MA where she m. in 1807.
She m. Arminadab Mansfield on 10 Sep 1807 in Cambridge, MA. He was born in VT but his father, Jonathan Mansfields was from Waltham, MA so perhaps Arminadab had returned to MA. The MANSFIELD genealogy references Watertown Vital Records for the marriage. That may indicate that Fanny Prentice's family is from the Watertown area.
We checked our database and it seems likely that Fanny Prentice is #47/51v in our PRENTICE book. She was bap. 4 Jun 1786. She is the daughter of Thomas Prentice and Ruth Symmes who lived in Cambridge, MA. If so, that would make her a descendant of Henry Prentice of Cambridge, MA.
Our PRENTICE book shows only one other Fanny Prentice in the time frame 1785-95, and the other Fanny married someone else.
