1. Benager Prentice was b. c. 1799 and d. 21 Dec 1896.
He married Adelia, b. 6 Jan 1799 and d. 21 Dec, 1896. Both are interred at the Ithaca City Cemetery in Ithaca, NY. He does not appear in the IGI, nor does he appear in the Ancestral File. Adelia appears as Delia in the 1850 census in Ithaca, Thompkins Co., NY with their children:
- Alfred M.(?) Prentice, b. c. 1825. Not in 1860, 1870 or 1880 census.
- Charles Prentice, b. c. 1826 and d. 21 Jul 1851.
- (perhaps) Lucinda Prentice, b. c. 1828. She appears in Delia's home in the 1850 census with her apparent husband, (name illegible).
- (perhaps) Catherine Prentice, b. c. 1828. She appears in Delia's home in the 1850 census (but not in 1860, 1870
or 1880 census)with her apparent husband, Edward Clinton and daughter:
- Helen Clinton, b. c. 1847
- Andrew J. "Jackson" Prentice was b. c. 1829 in NY. . . . . . . . [2]
- Lorraine Prentice, b. c. 1832
- Mary Prentice, b. c. 1840
Delia is probably the same person as the "Mrs. Prentice" who appears in the 1840 Ithaca census with 1 son age 5-10 and 2 sons age 10-15, and 2 daughters. No Prentices appear in Ithaca in the 1830 census.
2. Andrew J. "Jackson" Prentice was b. c. 1829 in NY. He appears in the 1870 and 1880 Ithaca, Tompkins Co., NY census with his wife, Mary M., b. c. 1836 in NY, and his children:
- Delia E. Prentice, b. c. 1863, NY.
- Lula B. Prentice, b. c. 1872, NY.
- Fred J. Prentice, b. c. 1874, NY.
Living with Andrew and his family in the 1870 census are Adeline Prentice may be the same person as Fidela Prentice, b. c. 1799, MA who appears in the 1860 Ithaca census with her apparent son, Jackson Prentice, b. c. 1828, NY, and that son is likely the same person as Andrew J. Prentice, above.
The Andrew's date of birth suggests he might be Andrew Jackson Prentice, b. 15 Oct 1828. He is 31/32c(iii) in our PRENTICE book. However, Binney's 1883 edition says that he was drowned in 1836. Additionally, his mother was named Esther.
Benager Prentice is likely the same person as Benajah Prentice, age 30-40, who appears in the 1830 census in Lansing, Tompkins Co., NY
