Texas Prentices in the 1850 and Later Census Records
The 1850 and later Texas Census contains the following individuals who we have not yet been able to identify. For convenience, spellings of the PRENTICE, PRENTIS and PRENTISS surnames have been consolidated into a single surname spelling. Comments references, such as 278/58, are to the page and number of individuals in our new PRENTICE book.
Since persons living the same county are often related, we have also Grouped the persons by County of Residence as well as by Place of Birth

She is the Emily Greer who m. Meredith H. Prentiss at Atascosa, TX in 1875 according to the Marriage Index. See 460/2v. Fn. 2 John's children, all born Texas: Hattie (1872), Walter (1875), Edna (1877), and Samuel (1879). Fn. 3 Mary E. may be Amanda's mother. Fn. 4 Wilson has children, all born TX: Martin (1885), Mattie (1888) & Clinton (1899). Also in 1910 census. Fn. 5 Mack in the 1900 census is the same person as Peter M. in the 1910 census. Mack has children, all born TX: Iona (1884), Edward C. (1886), William N. (1889), Lawrence (1895), Frank J. (1901) and Buron M. (1903). Fn. 6 James and Maud are also in the 1910 census. Children: Seaton (1901), May (1903) Fn. 7 Reg also appears in the earlier 1880 census, called "R. D.", and in the later 1910 census. Children: Jack (1901), Emma (1902), Eunice (1903), Edna (1905), Ruth (1908) and Maggie (1909). Fn. 8 William J. may be the "W. J. Prentice" who m. "M. L. Rose" on 16 Apr 1885 in Hardin Co., TN. Fn. 9 John also appears in the 1900 Lawrence Co., AR census. He might be a son of James Prentice, also of Lawrence Co., AR; James is a son of Isaac Prentice and a descendant of Robert Prentice of TN and VA. Fn. 10. Myrtle and Alma are probably sisters since they appear on the same census page. Fn. 11 Emmett also appears in the 1910 Amarillo, Potter, TX census Fn. 12 George has daughters: Myrtle (1889, MS), Alma S. (1893, AR) and Essie D. (1890, AR). Fn. 13 Has daughter, M. E., b. c. 1906.
