The 1850 and later Ohio Census contains the following individuals who we have not yet been able to identify. For convenience, spellings of the PRENTICE, PRENTIS and PRENTISS surnames have been consolidated into a single surname spelling. Fn. 7 Charles Prentice may be the Charles A. Prentice in the 1880 census. Fn. 8 Chancey Prentiss appears in the 1880 Cleveland, Cuyahoga, OH census with his wife, Emily H. (b. c. 1841, NJ) and children: Gertrude (b. c. 1868, OH) and Jennie (b. c. 1871, OH). Fn. 9 Charles Prentiss also appears in the 1880 OH census with his wife, Lillian, b. c. 1816, OH, and adopted children: Albert (b. 1874, OH), Pearl (b. 1877, OH), Adda (b. c. 1879, OH). Fn. 10 Clarinda Prentice is age 48 or 68 and was born either 1782 or 1802, CT. Fn. 11 Horatio Prentiss appears in the 1880 Defiance, Defiance, OH census. Brother of Henry; see Fn. 13. Fn. 12 Edwin Prentiss appears in the 1880 census with his wife, Augusta (b. c. 1862, OH) and sons: Edwin Lewis (b. c. 1877, OH) and Ralf Earl (b. c. 1880, OH). Fn. 13 Henry C. Prentiss is unmarried and living with the family of his brother, Horatio. Fn. 14 Might be James Calvin Prentiss, b. 4 Sep 1825, Pg. 493 (Hogg). Fn. 15 James Prentice may be the James H. Prentice in the 1880 MI census. Fn. 16 Louisa Prentice's husband is unidentified. Both died, leaving an orphan son, William Henry Prentice who was b. 13 May 1846 in Ripley, Brown Co., OH. We are helping one of William's descendants in trying to trace his roots. Louisa might be Louisa Scott who m. Andrew Jackson Prentice in 1840 in Medina, OH Fn. 17 Mary is not the Mary Edwards who m. Lucius Prentis in Cuyahoga Co., OH on 28 Dec 1834. Although Lucius died in 1845 and could not be the father of Mary's son, James, born c. 1848. Fn. 18 Lyman E. Prentiss: see also 1880 and 1900 census with his wife, Nancy, b. c. 1852, OH, and children: Paul (b. c. 1871, OH), Park (b. c. 1876, OH) and Ruth (b. c. 1878, OH) Fn. 19 Thomas and A. T. (probably Alonzo T.) Prentiss may be brothers since both live in same town. Alonzo T. Prentiss m. Ruth Ann McConnell on 7 Apr 1842 in Putnam County, OH. They might be sons of Gilbert Prentice (edb 6957) who likely had more than the 3 sons presently known: Harry (b. c. 1814), George (b. c. 1823) and Elbridge (b. c. 1830). Fn. 20 Henry Prentiss appears in the 1880 Monroeville, Huron, OH census with his wife, Jennie. Fn. 21 Emma Prentiss, called Anna in the 1880 Monroeville, Huron, OH census appers with her husband, O.E. Latham. dewald@prenticenet.com..
