Fn. 2 Alonzo Prentiss Cannot be Alonzo Thompson Prentice, 33/32d-ii who was b. 6 Sep 1826, NY, Lockport; that entry appears separately. Fn. 3 Ellen Prentice is a sister of Edward in this same census. She appears to be the same person as the daughter of Aryeriah Printice in the 1660 Bruce, Macomb, MI census. Fn. 4 James Prentiss is probably the same person who appears in the 1850 census and a brother of Ransom and Nelson. Fn. 5 Nelson Prentiss is the brother of James and Ransom, both of whom are living with him in the 1860 census. For additional information, see Nelson Prentiss in the Winter 1998 article. Fn. 6 Warren Prentice and his brother, Luther, appear in the 1850 Vermillion, Erie, OH census, but no parents are given. They might be the sons of Luther Prentice who appears in the 1850 Cuyahoga Co., OH census. Fn. 7 George Prentis may be the son of Eben and Rebecca in the 1850 and 1860 census. Fn. 8 George Prentiss might be the son of Noyes R. Prentice in the 1850 Jefferson, Ashtabula, OH census. George is EDB 23061. Fn. 9 James H. Prentiss might be the son of John and Amanda Prentice in the 1850 Jefferson, Ashtabula, OH census. John's roots are not yet known but may be related to Noyes R. Prentice mentioned in Fn. 8, above. James' wife, Mary C., appears to have been previously married as stepsons John C. Copeland (b. c. 1865, MI) and John R. Copeland (b. c. 1871, MI) are living with them Fn. 10 John Prentiss might also be a son of John and Amanda Prentice in the 1850 Jefferson, Ashtabula, OH census. He may also be a brother to James H. Prentiss, above (see Fn. 9) since both are living in Saginaw. Fn. 11 Marvin D. Prentiss is the son of Isaac Prentice, above. See the Spring '98 article in the Prentice Newsletter. Fn. 12 Ransom Prentiss is the brother of James and Nelson, both of whom are living with him in the 1860 census. For additional information, see Nelson Prentiss in the Winter 1998 article. Fn. 13 Wesley J. Prentiss is the son of Isaac Prentice, above. See the Spring '98 article in the Prentice Newsletter. Fn. 14 Thurlow Prentiss has in household these children: George Cook (b. c. 1867, M), Frederick Cook (b. c. 1870, MI) and Jennie Cook (b. c. 1873, MI). Given Thurlow's age (25) and that of his wife (20), his wife's maiden name was probably Cook, and the children are probably her siblings. Fn. 15 Albert Prentis is a descendant of Robert Prentice of Roxbury, MA, 461/1iii(2); appears in the 1850 Worthington, Franklin Co., OH census with his mother, Julia Prentice, b. c. 1790 in CT. Albert later appears in the 1860 Salem, Knox, IL census with his wife, Anna, a daughter, Sarah, and an additional daughter, Frances, b. c. 1857, IL, who does not appear in the 1900 MI census. Albert apparently left VT prior to the 1850 VT census as he does not appear there. Fn. 16 Arthur D. Prentice is the son of Benjamin and Harriet in the 1850 and 1860 Ripley, Huron Co., OH census. Benjamin Prentice was born c. 1834 in NY and may be kin to Asa Prentice, b. 18 Dec 1808 whose second wife, Lydia/Lida Adams, was living in Ripley, Huron OH in the 1850 and 1860 census. Fn. 17 Benson A. Prentice is 119-164i. He appears in the 1850 OH census called Abijah Benson Prentice. Fn. 18 Charles Prentice the grandson of Isaac Prentice; see Spring '98 article. Fn. 19 Claude Prentice the grandson of Isaac Prentice; see Spring '98 article. Fn. 20 George D. Prentice may be the son of Curtis Dunham Prentice, pg. 453, and grandson of Christopher Prentice
