He had 3 years of High School and was an auto mechanic. 1930 and 1940 census in Bradford, McKean Co., PA. On 5 Nov 1945, in PA, he enlisted in the Ordinance Dept. of the Army and served as a Master Sergeant. His obituary reads as follows:

    Norval Ormand Prentiss, 92, of Black Forest, Colorado, died October 5, 2010. He was born on July 28, 1918 in Buffalo, New York to Viola (Wedge) and James Prentiss. Norval retired from the United States Army as a CWO-3 Officer and also retired from a civil service position at Ft. Carson.

    Norval was a gentle, good person who loved to spend time with his family; he always enjoyed living here in Colorado and he loved to go fishing when he could.

    Norval was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne Prentiss.

    He is survived by his wife, Inge of 61 years; daughter, Christina (Ace) Veatch; two sons, George Prentiss and Robert (Carol) Prentiss; sister, Phyllis Miller, brothers John Stokes and Robert Neal; 7 grandchildren, Holly, Ryan, Tiffany, Angela, Nathan, Melody and Kevin; and many extended family and friends. He was loved and will truly be missed.

    Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 3:00pm, Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am Friday, October 8, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 846 E. Pikes Peak Ave.

    PRENTISS, Wayne Arthur, 71, of Midwest City, passed away Wed., Dec. 15, 1993. He was born Dec. 12, 1922 in Shinglehouse, Pa. to Wayne Arthur and Viola Prentiss.

    Wayne served with the U.S. Air Force during WWII, Korea and Viet Nam, a total of 26 years. He was later employed with the U.S. Postal Service in the Okla. City and the Midwest City areas for 22 years. On June 19, 1953 in Houston, Tx., Wayne married Madge F. Ducote.

    Survived by his [2nd] wife, Madge of the home; 2 sons, Alan W. Fitch of Severna Park, Maryland and Jim T. Prentiss of Blythewood, South Carolina; 2 daughters, Susan C. Martin and Sandra K. Prentiss, both of Midwest City; 6 grandchildren; 4 brothers and a sister.

    Services will be Saturday, Dec. 18, 1993 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with burial in Arlington Memory Gardens.

He m. 1st Gloria P. Thompson on 9 Apr 1949, Solihull, Warwickshire, England, where he was serving in the US Army.. They had 2 or more children, including:

  2. Susan Purnell Prentiss. She was b. and d. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., OK.

He m. 2nd, and as her 3rd husband, Madge Flora Ducote 19 Jun 1953, Houston, Harris Co., TX. She had prior marriages to Ezra Whitney Fitch (1938) and a Mr. Snider (1951). She was b. 19 Jan 1921 in Kleinwood, Avoyelles Co., LA, and d. 14 Jul 2005 in Newalla, Cleveland Co., OK. An Ancestor Chart for her can be found at Ancestry.com . Her obituary reads as follows:

    Madge Flora Ducote Prentiss, age 84, of Newalla, OK went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 14, 2005.

    Madge was born January 19, 1921 to Henry Joseph and Madgie (Blakewood) Ducote at Kleinwood Plantation near Moreauville, LA. During 1939, she graduated from high school in New Orleans, LA.

    Madge married Wayne Arthur Prentiss June 19, 1953 in Houston, TX and they shared 40 years of marriage until his death in 1993. Madge was the devoted and loving mother of two daughters: Susan Claire Martin of Newalla, OK and Sandra Kay Prentiss of Del City, OK; two sons: Alan Whitney Fitch of Lothian, MD and James Thomas Purnell Prentiss of Williamsburg, VA.

    Madge worked at the Van Way and AWAC's Alert Facility Dining Halls on Tinker Air Force Base for twenty years. She retired in 1996.

    She is survived by two brothers: H.J. Ducote and wife, Wilma of Port Arthur, TX and Blake Wood Ducote and wife, Mary of Mead, OK; two sisters: Carol Barber of El Campo, TX and Edith Claire Edwards of Midwest City, OK. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Alan Whitney Fitch, Jr. of Lothian, MD, Christopher Shawn Fitch of Millerville, MD, Lance Stacy Martin of Moore, OK, Patrick Harrison Large of Myrtle Beach, SC, Candice Michelle Johnson of Edmond, OK, and Colby Allan of Oklahoma City, OK; six great-grandchildren: Benjamin Whitney, Alysa Bernice, Sean Isaac, Kali Ann, Madison and Brandon; also numerous nieces and nephews survive Madge.

    Our family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to Cynthia Jordan, Donnie Knight, Belinda McDonald, Rhetta Smith, Tracy Smith, Kim Wallenmeyer and all the staff of Shawnee Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice for their outstanding care, kindness and compassion in helping Madge and her family through the final days of her life. The family will be receiving visitors at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, on Sunday, July 17, 2005 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am at Bill Eisenhour NE Chapel, Monday, July 18, 2005 with burial following at Arlington Memory Gardens.
