She was buried at Cambusnethan Churchyard, Kirk Road/Greenhead Road, Wishaw, Grave number 340. At home in Cambusnethan in 1851 census.

    Note: Gordon Lennox's email of 15 Mar 2015 relates the following: "My grandmother was Bethia Lockie, daughter of Jane Prentice. She and her twin sister Jessie were born on 10 June 1968. On an extract of her birth certificate the entry under name, maiden surname of mother reads"Jane Lockie formerly Sneddon M.S. Prentice." He asks if we have any record of Jane having a prior marriage to someone other than Robert Wallace Lockie, below. We do not.)

Jane m. 1st. James Snadden on 22 Jun 1955, Thrushbush, Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire. He was a Coal Miner, age 23, and she was a Farm Servant, age 17, per email from Gordon Lennox and Larry Boyd, email, 17 Mar 2015. He was born on 2 January 1932 at Carnwath and d. 1 Dec 1863. His parents were James Snadden and Marion Watt. The surname was spelled Snadden in the marriage register, Snaddon on their son Jame’s birth register entry and Sneddon on her daughter Bethia Lockie’s birth certificate. Children per Gordon Lennox, email, 27 Aug 2015.

Jane m. 2nd Robert Wallace Lockie on 24 Apr 1868, Thrushbush, Cambusnethan. He was b. 2 Sep 1829, New Trows, Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, and d. 21 Sep 1912, Royal George, Newmains, Lanark. His parents were James Lockie (1793-1865) and Margaret Wallace (1803-1870). He had already been married, in about 1851, to Francis (Fanny) Young with whom he had a daughter, and then to Elizabeth Martin in 1856 with whom he had two sons and a daughter. 3.1 Jessie Lockie, twin, b. 10 Jun 1868, Thrushbush, Cambusnethan.

Jessie m. William Kirkpatrick who was born on 8 Aug1862 at Dalbeatle, Kirkcudbright. He was a carter and she was a domestic worker. William was later a stoker at the dockyard boiler. Bethia stayed with Jessie and her husband while she was studying medicine. Jessie and William then stayed with his parents David and Jane (nee Steward) in Clydesdale with their three children:

  2. Jane Kirkpatrick, b. 1898,
  3. Jessie Kirkpatrick, b. 1900.
William was now a stoker at the dockyard boiler.

3.2 Bethia Lockie, b. 10 Jun 1868, Thrushbush, Cambusnethan, and d. 26 Jan 1954 from a coronary thrombosis. She was buried in the Pretoria Cemetery grave number 18474. Bethia was a daughter of Jane Prentice who studied medicine to become a medical missionary, working for the "Southern Morocco Mission of Glasgow".

She met Allan Lennox, a fellow medical missionary and they both went out to Morocco in 1894. They were married on 2 August 1895 at Dar al Bayda (Arabic name for Casablanca) and their marriage was registered with the British Consul as being of British subjects married overseas. They moved to Marrakech, the main station of the Southern Morocco Mission of Glasgow. Bethia and Allan moved to South Africa in 1948, where sons Albert and Alan were living. Bethia and Allan had three children all of them registered as British subjects born overseas:

  1. Albert Mitchell Lennox was born on 5 Jul 1899 at Morocco City (Marrakech) and died on 20 Dec 1979 at Johannesburg, South Africa. He married Ida Kathleen Russel from Bexhill on Sea, England. DOB Jan 15, 1906. DOM Dec 29, 1927. DOD Apr 7, 1977
  2. Edwin Arthur Lennox was born on 3 May 1901 at Morocco City (Marrakech) and died on 24 Jul 1982 at Andover. He married Elanor Anne Malins DOB Dec 24, 1901. DOM May 16, 1928. DOD Apr 18, 1979.
  3. Alan Rodney Trolard Lennox born on 27 May 1910 at Saffi and died on 20 Jun 1990 at Roodepoort, South Africa. He married Winifred Cowan from Edinburgh DOB Oct 19, 1909. DOM Oct 19, 1937 at Johannesburg. DOD Jul 6, 1990.

4. Thomas Prentice, b. c. 1840, Cambusnethan and d. 1 May 1914, aged 75. At home in 1851. A headstone in the Cambusnethan Churchyard, Kirk Road/Greenhead Road, Wishaw, shows him to be the son of John Prentice who died 25th November 1881 aged 71 years (b. c. 1810), and that John's wife was Ann Stevenson who died 9 October 1886, aged 77 years. Caroline d. 16 November 1891, aged 49 years. Both are bur. in the Cambusnethan Churchyard. 1881 census in Wishaw. 1891 census in Wishaw. 1901 census in Cambusnethan.

He m. Caroline Torrance on 31 Dec 1861, Stonehouse. She was b. c. 1845, Hamilton, and d. 16 Nov 1891, aged 49 years. Bur. with her husband in the Cambusnethan Churchyard. Childen (per IGI):

  1. John Prentice, b. 1 Apr 1862, Cambusnethan. At home in 1881, 1891 and 1901. He d. at Freemantle on 11 July 1912, aged 50 years and is bur. in the Cambusnethan churchyard.
  2. Alexander Prentice, b. 17 Sep 1864, Cambusnethan. At home in 1881. In 1891 and 1901 census in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, with his wife, Annie, b. c. 1866, Wishaw, Lanarkshire. No children shown.

  2. Alexander Telfer, b. 1895 and d. 1975. He m. Agnes Steward Ross and had a son and 3 daughters.
