Update of 20 Jan 2017: Research on Ancestry.com clearly confirms that "Printke" was a correct spelling in the obituary and that his roots are those of the "Printke" family. There is no reason to do further Prentiss research.


Update of 1 Nov 2014: Robert R. Prentiss was b. Robert R. Printke per his own obituary, and his brother, Rick Prentiss, b. 16 May 1924, was b. Rick Pintke per the Ohio Death Index .

    Robert Rodrick Prentiss "Bob" of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side at Jupiter Pavilion Hospice on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 after complications from a stroke. Bob's life revolved around his family and the game of golf.

    Bob was born in Toledo, OH on December 29, 1927 and moved to West Palm Beach, FL in 1977. Bob was a Century Club, 52-year member of the PGA of America and was a Head Golf and Teaching Professional at golf clubs in Northern Ohio and in South Florida as well as a member of Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach.

    Betty J. Prentiss (Gulyas), his loving wife of 60 years, predeceased Bob in 2009. He is survived by his devoted daughters, Susie Prentiss, Patti (Prentiss) Benson and son-in-law, Bobby Benson, all of West Palm Beach. Other survivors include sisters, Shirley Palicki (Tom Palicki, deceased) of Liberty Township, OH; Arlene and Dale Kopinski of Naples, FL; in-laws, Sally Prentiss (brother Rick Prentiss, deceased) of Toledo, OH; Carole Gulyas (Frank Gulyas, deceased), of Maumee, OH; and Louise and Jim Weyer.

    Bob is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Vernell Printke. His step-grandchildren, Cindy White (Fabian Rogalski), Rob Benson (Cathy) and Julie Petitt (Bret) along with numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends will dearly miss Bob.

    A memorial service will be held at Christ Fellowship South Campus in North Palm Beach, FL on Tuesday, July 22 at 11:00AM followed by a golf outing and reception at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, FL. Because he so loved to teach junior golfers, especially his daughters, contributions in honor of Bob Prentiss may be made to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf by visiting www.girlsgolf.org.     Betty Jeanne Prentiss of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 9, 2009, after a lengthy illness.

    Betty loved the game of golf and became a member of the LPGA Teaching & Club Professionals (T&CP) in 1981. She worked as a golf teaching professional at several area country clubs, including the Palm Beach Country Club, where she retired in 2007 after 23 years.

    Betty was born in Toledo, OH and moved to West Palm Beach in 1977. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert R. 'Bob' Prentiss; her children, Susie Prentiss (Kenny Toole, deceased) and Patti Benson (Bobby), all of West Palm Beach.

    Other survivors include her brother, Frank Gulyas, Jr. (Carole) of Toledo, OH and sister, Louise Weyer (Jim) of Petersburg, MI. In-laws include, Shirley Palicki (Tom Palicki, deceased) and Sally Prentiss (Rick Prentiss, deceased) of Toledo, Lucas Co., OH and Arlene and Dale Kopinski of Naples, FL. Numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends will miss her dearly.

    Betty is predeceased by her parents Frank and Barbara Gulyas and brother, Jerry.

    Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2009 at QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL HOME, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at St. Luke Catholic Church, Lake Worth, FL. A reception will be held at 7:30 p.m. after the Mass on Tuesday.
