Who are Robert Prentice's Parents?

As for the parents of the the Robert Prentice who m. Eliza Frame, that Robert Prentice may have been b. c. 1781-1792. The only Robert born in that time and shown in our copy of Glasgow Records are:

  1. Robert Prentice, chr. 12 Dec 1781, Lanark, son of Thomas Prentice and Beatrix Bell.
  2. Robert Prentice, chr. 9 Feb 1783, Cambusnethan, son of John Prentice and Agnes Dalziel.
  3. Robert Prentice, chr. 22 May 1791, Cockburnspath, son of John Prentice and Ephy Mason. Cockburnspath lies in Berwickshire and about 20 miles east of Edinburgh.

Since Robert named his first son, "John," and since Cockburnspath is so far from Old Monkland, Robert seem likely to be the Robert Prentice who was chr. 9 Feb 1783, son of John Prentice and Agnes Dalziel, but further corroboration is needed. John and Agnes are #3v in our Fall 2001 article entitled John Prentice of Carluke, Scotland .
