1. Mary E. Prentice was b. Mar 1863 in Michigan. She appears in the 1900 census in Riga, Lenawee Co., MI, with her husband and family. That census shows her father as b. in NY and mother in MI. In the 1910, and 1920 census she is shown as a widown, still living in Riga with her son, Harry. She is living alone in the 1930 census in Blissfield, Lenawee Co., MI.

She m. Charles Reed on 24 Nov 1880 (the 1880 census indicated c. 1883) in Tecumseh, Lenawee Co., MI. Charles was b. Nov 1852 in England, as were his parents Children of Mary and Charles:

1. Harry Reed, b. Jan 1884, MI. At home in 1900. In 1910, 1920 and 1930 Riga census with his wife, Emma, b. c. 1886, MI, with her father b. in VA and mother in OH. Children:
   1. Adah/Ada S. Reed, dau., b. c. 1908, MI. At home in 1910, 1920 and 1930.
   2. Charles A. Reed, b. c. 1912, MI. At home in 1920 and 1930.
   3. Woodrow W. Reed, b. c. 1914, MI. At home in 1920 and 1930.
   4. Archie G. Reed, b. c. 1915, MI. At home in 1920 and 1930.
   5. Bessie M. Reed, b. c. 1918, MI. At home in 1920 and 1930.
2. Clara Belle Reed, b. Mar 1886, MI. At home in 1900. Not home in 1910.
3. Edna Reed, b. Jul 1889, MI. At home in 1900. Not home ion 1910.
4. Bessie (Elizabeth?) Reed, b Feb 1881, MI. At home in 1900 and 1910.

A witness to the wedding was Hattie Prentice. She is almost certainly the Harriet Prentice shown in the 1880 census in Tecumseh, Lenawee Co., MI, as b. c. 1861 in MI, with her father b. in NY and mother in MI. In 1880 she was a servant in the home of Orrin B. Dewolf and his wife, Cordelia M. Dewolf.

Harriet Prentice is quite likely the Harriet Prentiss who appears in the 1870 census in Franklin, Lenawee Co., MI, as b. c. 1861, dau. of Nelson Prentiss, b. c. 1819, NY, and his wife, Mary J., b. c. 1821, MI. Franklin lies about 10 miles west of Tecumseh.on Hwy. 50.

There seems to be a good chance that Mary Prentice and Harriet Prentice might be sisters. Both of their fathers were b. in NY and both of their mothers were b. in MI.

However, as noted above, Harriet appears in the 1870 census in Franklin, Lenawee Co., MI, in the family of Nelson and Mary Prentiss. No Mary Prentice is shown in that family as one would expect since she was b. in Mar 1863, nor does any Mary Prentice/Prentiss, b. c. 1863, MI, appear in any other household in the 1870 census

Mary might also be a sister to Minnie Prentice who appears as a servent in the 1880 census in Tecumseh, Lenawee Co., MI, as b. c. 1862, MI, and a servent in the household of George and Hele n M. Griswold. Both of her parents are shown as b. in NY.

It just seems to be more than a coincidence that Mary, Harriet and Minnie, all b. between 1861-1863, appear in the 1880 Tecumseh, Lenawee Co., census.
