He m. Amber L. Meyer. She was b. 15 Jul 1938 in Waterman, IL, and d. 29 Jan 2009, Mendota, IL, Community Hospital. She was the dau. of Homer Meyer and Vida Casey, Her obituary of 2 Feb 2009 in The Mendota (IL) Reporter reads as follows:

Amber L. Prentice, 70, of Paw Paw died Jan. 29, 2009 at Mendota Community Hospital.

Mrs. Prentice was born on July 15, 1938 in Waterman to Homer and Vida (Casey) Meyer. She married John Prentice on Oct. 28, 1961 at the Methodist Church in Paw Paw. Mrs. Prentice was a babysitter for many children in the Paw Paw area.

Survivors include her husband of Paw Paw; two sons, John (Stephanie) Prentice of Paw Paw and Clinton Young of DeKalb; one daughter, Deanna (Dana) Murray of Greenfield, Mo.; two sisters, Ora June Bannister of Somonauk and Ila (Bill) Jones of Amboy; three grandchildren, Emily and Mitch Prentice and Merek Young; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald Meyer; three sisters, Mary Kelley, Dora Englehart, and Lois Spears; two infant sisters, Gladys and Rose; one son in infancy; and one grandson, Jansen Murray.

Cremation rites were accorded. Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 31 at the First Presbyterian Church of Paw Paw with Rev. Dr. Anne Hoflen and Rev. Ken Foster officiating. Inurnment was at Wyoming Cemetery. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until time of service on Jan. 31 at the church. Torman Funeral Home assisted the family.

   1. Emily Prentice.
   2. Mitch Prentice.
2. Clinton Young of DeKalb, perhaps a son by a prior marriage. Son:
   1. Merek Young.
3. Deanna (Dana) Murray of Greenfield, MO, perhaps a daugher by a prior marriage.

While only a guess for now, John Prentice might be a son of the John Prentice who was b. c. 1896, IL (with his father b. in MA and mother in Norway) and who is shown in the 1930 census in Paw Paw, Lee Co., IL, as 34 years of age with his wife, Charlotte who was b. c. 1903, IL. No children are shown, but their ages are such that they could have had a son named John. Prentice who was b. after the 1930 census.
