In researching Prentice records in Berkshire Co., MA, and with the help of Frederick Printiss, we found the following men, or men, in Hinsdale, Berkshire Co., whose roots we have yet to identify:
- John Prentice, b. c. 1762 and d. 29 Aug 1841, Hinsdale, Berkshire Co., MA (per Binney, 1996 Ed., pg. 472).
- Jno Prentice, b. c. 1765-1785 who appears in the 1810 census in Hinsdale, Berkshire Co., MA, and was then 26-45 years of age. No wife or children are shown.
- John Prentice, b. c. 1775-1794, who appears in the 1820 census in Hinsdale, Berkshire Co., and who was then 26-45 years of age. He might be the the same person as Jno Prentice, above, in which case his birth year would be narrowed to 1775-1785. It also shows a female, probably his wife, age 45+ and b. before 1775. There is also another female, age 16-26 and b. c. 1794-1804.
- The 1838 Registry of Deeds-Hinsdale, shows that a John Prentice bought land in Hinsdale on 28 Aug 1838.(Ref: Bk 1830-1849). It it was the John Prentice above who may have been b. 1775-1785, in 1838 he would have been 53-63 years of age.
