The Obituary of her father, Matthew Macauley Rutherford, received from Gayle Simonson (nee Rutherford) of Edmonton, Canada (a great grand daughter) 05/11/99 reads as follows (there was no date and no paper listed as the source of the obituary): :

    "BALLYBAY MAN DIES IN LISBURN."

"By the death of Mr. Matthew M'Auley Rutherford, who died at Lissue House, Lisburn, on Sunday, in his 82nd year, a well-known figure in County Monaghan has been removed.

For many years the late gentleman carried on an extensive grocery and hardware business in Ballybay, where he also farmed on a big scale as well as acting as auctioneer. A few years ago he retired from business and went to reside at Lissue House with his daughter, Mrs. Campbell.

He was a P.M. of Ballybay Masonic Lodge No. 192, and also a leading member of Second Ballybay Presbyterian Church.

The late Mr. Rutherford was a strong Loyalist, and on one occasion contested South Monaghan in the Unionist interest. His son, Mr. W.R. Rutherford, is town surveyor of Lurgan. Deep sympathy will be extended to the relatives at the passing of this popular business man."

Her email of 3 May 2008 also adds that Matthew originally lived in Crievelands then Caddah House, Ballybay, Co Monagh an, Ireland. Final years with John Campbell and his wife Marcella (nee Rutherford - a daughter) at Lissue, Lisburn, Co Antrim. He was an Auctioneer, Grocer and Farmer.
