In reviewing Scotland census records, we found the following families:
1. James Prentice was b. c. 1796 (per 1841 census) or c. 1793 in Carluke (per 1851 census), or c. 1792 in Carluke (per 1861 census) in Lanarkshire, Scotland. He appears in the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire with his wife and family.
He m. Euphemia, b. c. 1796 (per 1841 census) or c. 1794, Carluke, Lanarkshire (per 1851 census), or c. 1793, Carluke (per 1861 census), Scotland. Known children:
- Martha Prentice, b. c. 1816, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1841 census at home in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.
- John Prentice, b. c. 1817, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1841 census at home in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.
- James Prentice, b. c. 1821 (per 1841 census) or c. 1823, Carluke, Lanarkshire (per 1851 & 1861 census), Scotland.
- Thomas Prenticek, b. c. 1824, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1841 census at home in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.
- William Prentice, b. c. 1826, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1841 census at home in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.
- Janet Prentice, b. c. 1831, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1841 census at home in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.
