Update of 3 Apr 2009: Although additional research is required for confirmation, Ebenezer Prentice may be the same person as the Ebenezer Prentice, #21, shown in our Thomas Prentice eBook, who may have married, as his second wife, Elizabeth Shapley.
1. Ebenezer Prentice may have been b. c. 1748-1758. We do not have a birth place for him, but it might have been in, or near, New London, CT, where he married.
He m. Elizabeth Shapley on 6 Jul 1783 in New London, CT. She was b. 19 Sep 1755 and was then 27 years of age. Ancestor charts for her can be found at Ancestry.com .

- Elizabeth Prentice, b. 12 Aug 1785, New London. She m. Edward Pratt.

2. Ebenezer Prentice, chr. 29 Aug 1788, New London, CT.
He m. Rebecca Gager/McGager who d. 13 Apr 1868, perhaps at Detroit, Wayne, MI. He appears in the 1860 census in Detroit without a wife. Children (per 1860 census):
- John F. Prentice/Prentis, b. c. 1832, CT. At home in 1860.
- George House Prentice, b. c. 1834, MI and d. 1922, son of Ebenezer Prentice and Rebecca. Lawyer in 1860
and 1870 census. He m. Lavina/Louisa Carrie Griffin, b. Aug 1844 and d. 1906. George Prentice was
living in Detroit in the 1860, 1870 and 1920 census, although the surname is spelled Prentis.
Children per 1870, 1880 & 1900 Detroit, Wayne, MI census:
- Caroline "Carrie" R. Prentis, b. Dec 1868, MI. Living with father in 1910 census. She m. Edward Atkins, b. c. 1858, MA (per 1920 Detroit census).
- Ida A. Prentis, b. May 1870, MI.
- George G. Prentis, b. Oct 1872, MI and m. Edith, b. c. 1880, MI. Daughter
per 1920 Detroit census:
- Lindsay E. Prentice, b. c. 1909, MI.
- B. T. Prentice/Prentis, b. c. 1838, MI. At home in 1860.
