Angela Agnes Prentice of India

Angela Agnes Prentice of India
By Linus Joseph Dewald Jr., Editor
Spring 2008 and Revised 11 Mar 2008

1. Angela Agnes Prentice was b. 6 Oct 1933 and bap. 10 Dec 1933 at the Pres. Church, Maulvi Bazar, S. Sylhet.

The record at India Office Family History Search says "Parents: Percy; Hem Nalini" which is unclear as to meaning unless the father's name is Percy Prentice and the mother's name is Hem Nalini.

The record also identifies the Presidency as Bengal. British India was divided into three Presidencies:

  1. Bombay, which covered the west and north of the country, including what is now Pakistan;
  2. Bengal, which covered the east of the country and included Burma and what is now Bangladesh, and
  3. Madras, which covered the southern portion of India.

The main cities of the Presidencies were Bombay, Calcutta and Madras, respectively.
