1. Allen Prentice was b. c. 1832-1834 in MA. He first appears in the 1850 census in Worthington, Hampshire Co., MA as Allen Prentiss, b. c. 1834 in MA, as were both of his parents. In that 1850 census he appears in the household of Ethan Barnes, a farmer, and his wife, Mary. Relationships were not shown in the 1850 census, so he might have been kin, or he might have been a hired hand.
He is probably the same person as Allen Prentice, b, c, 1834, MA, who appears in the 1860 census in Becket, Berkshire Co., MA, as an unmarried farmer.
Allen does not appear in the 1870 census.
Allen Prentiss is tentatively identified as the Allen Prentice who appears in the 1880 census in Marquette, Marquette Co., MI, with his wife, Mary who was b. 1836 in Ireland. The 1880 census showsAllen as b. c. 1836 in MA, as were both of Allen's parents. No children are shown in the 1880 census. He does not appear in the 1900 census when he would have been about 66-68 years of age.
