He m. (Unknown); her name does not appear in the 1841 or 1851 census. Known children:

1. Hannah Prentice, b. c. 1836, South Lopham, Norfolk Co., England. At home in South Lopham in 1841. She was a Servant in the 1851 census in South Lopham. She may, or may not, be the Hannah Murton shown in the 1861 Bressingham, Norfolk, census as b. c. 1835, South Lapham, wife of Charles Murton, b. c. 1830, Bressingham. Son:
   1. William Murton, b. c. 1859, Roydon, Norfolk.

2. Sophia Prentice, b. c. 1837 (1839 in 1851 census), South Lopham, Norfolk Co., England. At home in in South Lopham 1841 and 1851. Not in 1871 census by any surname.

3. Solomon Prentice, b. c. 1840, South Lopham, Norfolk Co., England. At home in South Lopham in 1841. At home in 1851. He appears in the 1861 census as a Pauper Inmate at Guiltcross, Norfolk. Not in 1871 and later census records.

4. Mary Prentice, b. c. 1841, South Lopham. Not in 1841 census. At home in South Lopham in 1851.

Living in William's household as a Servant in both 1841 and 1851 in Eliza Garnham, b. c. 1821, Rickinghall (indexed as Rickryhell), Suffolk; no father surnamed Garnham is shown in the household. The 1851 census shows Eliza Garnham had at least 3 children where the father is identified only as "William. The 1841 census does show 3 men named Will Garnham who were then living in South Lopham who were born in 1788, 1816 and 1816.

At an unknown date between 1851 and 1861, William apparently m., as his 2nd wife Eliza and then d. before 1861 when Eliza appears as Eliza Prentice in the 1861 census as a widow with William not appearing in the household.

Eliza was b. c. 1818 in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. She appears not to be Eliza Garnham because the date and place of her birth (1818, Ely, Cambridgeshire) are different from that of Eliza Garnham (1821, Rickinghall, Suffolk)

2. David (Garnham) Prentice, b. c. 1844, South Lopham, Norfolk. At home in 1861. He is probably the David Prentice shown in the 1891 census in South Lopham as b. c. 1846, South Lopham, with his wife and family.

3. Charles (Garnham) Prentice, b. c. 1848, South Lopham, Norfolk. At home in 1861. In the 1871 census he is a Boarder in South Lopham. He is probably the Charles Prentice shown in the 1881 census in South Lopham with his wife and family.

He m. Mary A. Bradstreet, b. c. 1852 in South Lopham, Norfolk. Living with the family in 1901 was Mary's father, James Bradstreet, b. c. 1836, South Lopham, Norfolk. Known children:
