We found the information, below, posted by Norton Hatfield at Ancestry.com . By email of 15 Apr 2006 he says that information is from a book entitled "The Strongs of Stronville."
1. Lionel Rudolph Prentice was likely b. c. 1840-1855 in CT (per 1880 census record for his children). He was living in Torrington, CT in 1876 at the birth of his daughter, Josephine, below. He d. before the 1880 census as his wife, Mary, is there shown as a widow.
He m. Mary Charlotte Calhoun at some date before 1876. She was b. c. 1848, NY, and was from Matteawan, NY. She appears as a widow in the 1880 census in Torrington, Litchfield Co., CT. They had 2 or more children, including, per Ancestry.com :
- Josephine Elector Prentice, b. 30 Jun 1876 in Torrington, CT. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
- Linda B. Prentice, b. c. 1879, Torrington, CT. At home in 1880. She appears in the 1900 census as a Servant in the home of William and D. and Ably Chism in Ashford, Windham Co. CT.
2. Josephine Elector Prentice, b. 30 Jun 1876 in Torrington, CT.
She m. Robert Strong Amidon. He was b. 8 Jun 1875 in Asford, CT, and d. 10 Mar 1930. He was the son of Gilbert E. Amidon and Julia Sophia Whiton and was the prop. of a general store in Scotland, CT. Ancestor charts for him can be found at Ancestry.com . Known children:
- Howard Prentice Amidon, b. 15 Dec 1905 in Asford, CT, and d. Apr 1982 in Amirillo, TX. He m. Easter L. Lawson
on 10 Mar 1928. She was b. 30 Sep 1908 in North Easton, MA. Children:
- Roberta Marie Amidon, b. 25 Dec 1928.
- (son) Amidon.
- Helen Constance Amidon, b. 7 Jul 1908 in Tolland, CT.
- Roberta Amidon, b. 14 Dec 1911 in Tolland, CT and d. 3 Nov 1913, age 2 years.
- Richard Ross Amidon, b. 21 Jue 1913 in Tolland, CT
The only clue we have so far is that he was b. in CT and perhaps 1840-1855. He does not appear in the 1850, 1860 or 1870 census, and died before the 1880 census.
