He m. Mary, b. c. 1791, Hull, Yorksher (per 1851 census). Not home in 1861 and may be deceased. Known children per 1841 and 1851 census:

3. Charles Prentis was b. c. 1828 in Westminster, Middlesex, England. He appears well-to-do. He appears in the 1851 and 1861 census in Bermondsey, Surrey. He later appears in the 1871 census in Camberwell, St. George Parish, Surrey, England, and in the 1881 census with his wife and family. He does not appear with his wife in the 1891 censusin Kingston, Surrey, and may by then be deceased.
He m. Elizabeth was was b. c. 1825, Great Ellingham, Norfolk, England (per 1891 census). She appears, without her husband, in the 1891 census in Kingston, Surrey. Not in 1901 census and perhaps deceased. Children:

He is probably the James Prentz shown in the 1861 census in Limehouse St. Anne, Middlesex, as b. in London City, Middlesex, with his wife. In 1871 census in St. Anne, Limehouse, London, where his birth place is shown as Bishop Gate, Middlesex. No children shown. In 1881 and 1891 census living at 45 Carr St. (Fish Shop), in Limehouse, London, with his family.
He m. Rosena/Rosina, b. c. 1843, Limehouse, Middlesex. Son per 1881 census.
- James Prentis/Prentice, b. c. 1873, Limehouse, Middlesex. In 1891 census living in Poplar, London, with his mother and step-father, George Humphrey. Not in 1901 census.
In the 1891 census, Rosena is shown in the 1891 Poplar, London, census as the wife of George Humphrey, b. c. 1856, St. Georges, London. Living with them is their son, James Prentis.
He may, or may not, be the James Prentice shown in the IGI as b. 5 May 1793, and chr. 23 Jun 1793, at St. Luke Old Street, Finsbury, London, England, son of John and Anne Prentice.
The 1841 census, which has a census date of 1 Jun 1841, shows his age as "49". If his birthday is before June 1st, his birth year would be 1792; but if his birth is after June 1st, his birth year would be 1791. However, those birth years may not be decisive if the age given in the 1841 census was off.
