Who are Humphrey Prentice's Parents?

Although further investigation is needed for confirmation, it seems likely that Humphrey Prentice, b. c. 1763, Glemsford, is related to the Prentices of Glemsford, Suffolk, and Langley, Essex, England , discussed in our Fall 2006 article.

His most likely parents are Thomas Prentice and Alice Cranfield of Long Melford which lies only about 3 miles SE of Glemsford; and at least one of their grandsons, William Prentice (son of Thomas Jr.) b. c. 1772 in Long Melford, is known to have lived in Glemsford at least as early as 1796. Interestingly, William named one of his sons "Humphrey".
