Earl Prentiss of Danville, Montour Co., PA

Earl Prentiss of Danville, Montour Co., PA
By Linus Joseph Dewald Jr., Editor
Summer 2005 and Revised 13 Jun 2008

We are helping Tommie Stovall in tracing the Prentiss roots of her husband, Seth. Here is what we have so far:

1. (Unknown) Prentiss may have been b. c. 1900-1910, perhaps in PA where his son, Earl. was born.

He m. Mary, b. c. 1908, PA. She is identified in that 1930 census record as the daughter of Aron and Anna Weaver. Children:

  1. Earl Prentiss, b. c. 1925 in PA. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
  2. Charles Prentice, b. c. 1927.

2. Earl Prentiss was b. c. 1925 in PA. He appears in the 1930 census in Danville, Montour Co. PA living with his mother and brother Charles. We do not yet know for certain, but Earl may be the same person as the Earl Prentiss sought by Tommie Stovall. Tentatively, we infer that he is. Earl had 1 or more children, including:

  1. Michael Vern Prentis, b. c. 1950, PA. He m. Debra Ealer. They had 1 or more children, including:
    1. Seth Prentiss. Married and children:
      1. Michael Todd Prentiss
      2. Nikki Prentiss

Who are Earl Prentiss' Parents?

Although conjecture at this point, Earl may be a son of Earl Prentis, b. c. 1902 in PA, son of Charles Samuel Prentis and his wife, Amand E. of Danville, Montour Co.,PA (#225 in our eBook), and a descendant of Stephen-3 Prentis. He seems the more likely possibility since Earl may have been named after his father, Earl, and also because the 1925 Earl gave a son the name "Charles," perhaps after his father.

The SSDI shows Harold H. Prentiss, b. 14 Jul 1904 and d. Jul 1983 in Danville, Montour Co., PA. In the 1920 Danville census he is shown as a nephew of Ambrose D. Prentice and his wife, Henrietta.

The SSDI also shows Leroy F. Prentiss, b. 28 Feb 1908 and d. 4 Dec 1998, Danville, Montour Co., PA. In the 1920 Danville census he is shown as the son of William P. Prentiss and his wife, Minnie D. who are 226(1) in our Stephen Prentice eBook. However, we may be able to exclude him since he would have been only about 17 when Earl was b. c. 1925.
