Update of 22 Feb 2009: Billie Dove Prentice is the wife of William Prentice who is #77iii in our article entitled Prentices of Halton, Buckingham, England . That article now replaces this article.
1. Billie Dove Prentice was b. c. 1930 at an unknown location, and d. 23 Jun 2006 at the local hospital in Orange Beach, AL. We tentatively assume that Billie is a female and that her husband apparently predeceased her since he is not mentioned in her obituary which reads as follows:
- "ORANGE BEACH: Billie Dove Prentice
Billie Dove Prentice, 76, of Orange Beach [AL], died Friday, June 23, 2006, at a local hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Hamby Prentice of Bon Secour; a son, William Randall Prentice of Huntsville; a brother, Wallace Lacy of Sarasota, FL; a sister, Jane Lacey Phiffer of Brooksville, FL; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Cason Funeral Service "
Children of Billie Dove Prentice (per above obituary):

- William Randall Prentice of Huntsville, (AL?)
We hypothesized that Billie Dove Prentice was a female and the wife of a man surnamed Prentice who likely was a bit older than she was. We also noted that Billie had a son, William Randall Prentice, who lived in Huntsville.
We checked the 1930 census for Huntsville, and found a William Prentice, b. c. 1927, AL, and then living inHuntsville, madison Co. AL. He was the son of Charles Prentice (b. c. 1894, AL, with both parents b. in AL) and his wife, Lottie (b. c. 1899, TN, with her father b. in TN and mother in OH). Also shown were their children:
- Rather Prentice, b. c. 1921, AL. At home in Huntsville in the 1930 census.
- Charles Prentice, b. c. 1924, AL. At home in Huntsville in the 1930 census.
- (William Prentice, above)
- Carline Prentice, b. c. 1928, AL. At home in Huntsville in the 1930 census.
Investigation is continuing to see whether that is the right family.
