1. Owen Prentis was b. c. 1834 in Ireland. He appears in the 1870 census in Oyster Bay, Queens Co., NY, as a farm laborer with his wife, Martha, b. c. 1840, Ireland, and children:
- John Prentis, b. c. 1864, Ireland
- James Prentice, b. c. 1867, Ireland
- Margaret, b. c. 1870, Ireland. Her name appears to be crossed out with a notation that seems to read, "No Place this census," perhaps meaning she was born after the cutoff date.
Owen and his sons do not appear in the 1880 or later census records.
